Swimming lessons during Covid – 19

Following the relaxation of the national Covid 19 rules in July 2021 we are maintaining some basic principles to keep our swimmers and teachers as safe as possible.

Steps to follow

A Medical and Covid-19 Health Questionnaire MUST still be completed by all swimmers prior to your first visit. This provides an opportunity  for swimmers and spectators to provide us with relevant  information and sign up to our rules.

If you have been asked by the NHS test and trace team to isolate or you or anyone in your household has Covid – 19 symptoms you must not attend your lessons and let us know why. This also applies to our swimming teachers and poolside staff.

Where possible we are asking that only one parent / carer accompany a child to swimming lessons. We are insisting that only one parent / carer help a child to change after their lessons to help with social distancing.

We are maintaining our request for swimmers to arrive for lessons ‘activity’ ready, the changing rooms will be available on exit. Again this helps with social distancing.

Swimming teachers will no longer be required to wear a face shield while teaching in the water. Although some teachers may still choose to do so.

Swimmers attending parent and baby lessons are able to use the changing rooms before and after lessons.

All our visitors are encouraged to ‘check in’ using the NHS COVID-19 app, to support NHS Test and Trace.

Wash your hands thoroughly when you enter and exit the swimming pool building.

We actively encourage all of our visitors to consider and discuss with us any individual risks that apply to them, such as clinical vulnerabilities and vaccination status. We are here to help and will make further adaptations , if required.

Watford Swim School – Stud Green

We are still asking spectators to view from the garden (under the heated lean too) to help with social distancing. To be honest, we have found that children have been focusing  a little better when the parents are not on poolside anyway!

Spectators should still wear a face covering while in the swimming pool building, if they need to enter

Watford Swim School – Abbots Hill School

The changing rooms are fairly small and to help with social distancing we are still asking swimmers to arrive ‘activity’ ready and were possible not to use the changing rooms on exit. The changing rooms will be available but there may be a short wait at busy times.

The showers are not available to be used prior too or after your lessons at Abbots Hill School. The shower in the disabled changing area is available were special circumstances apply.

Adult swimmers are asked to use the changing rooms on exit and not change on poolside at any time.
